Katrina Rowell is a young queer female artist who lives in the North East of Scotland in Moray. She studied for several years firstly at City of Glasgow College then followed on by The Glasgow School of Art, graduating in 2022. Taking inspiration from her rural upbringing a lot of her work takes influence from her natural surroundings, particularly that of the coast and its sea rock surface. She takes preference to traditional skills and loves learning ancient techniques to be transported in time. She finds the tactility of her work to be both therapeutic and grounding and this contributes to her wellbeing. As well as jewellery Katrina has a painting practice and has started learning bookbinding. She has a keen interest in healing modalities and will be training in counselling soon. She is considering art therapy as a career path to combine both of these avenues and share what she has found to aid in catharsis.
